As part of adapting AKAP’s programs to the COVID19 pandemic, Project Kumustahan (PK), a online platform for information and education about children’s rights was launched in May 2020. PK seeks to expand spaces for child participation despite the restrictive mobility of children during the pandemic by soliciting their perspectives on how their rights are affected by the pandemic. Online consultations with children on thematic child rights issues in the context of the pandemic, as well as creative competitions like poster making and essay writing, are among the methods used for child participation. Inputs of children from the online consultation feed into the series of policy briefs on children’s rights, as well as the ASEAN Responses to COVID19 study from a child rights-based approach that will be completed by the project team. The PK social media page features weekly information and education materials about different issues related to children’s rights. PK has an editorial board composed of children to ensure that materials published online are child-friendly. It also has an online reporting portal where violations of children’s rights may be reported for referral and action of appropriate government agencies.
