Fresh from their eight-day immersion in the Chindunan–Alulad–Lamud–Marabal (CALM) Ancestral Domain of the Tagbanwa of Culion, Palawan, Batch Lakun was warmly welcomed into the Ateneo Human Rights Center family.

Lakun, a Tagbanwa term meaning waves from the sea, reflects a community of people whose lives are deeply tied to the ocean. Like waves, resilient and enduring, the immersion shaped the batch with lessons in the community and the lived realities of the Calamian Tagbanwa.

Carrying the spirit of Lakun, the batch now moves forward as human rights advocates, committed to amplifying voices of vulnerable communities as they all learn the law to serve the people.
